Cost: £314
School Years: Year 10, Year 11
Gender: Boys & Girls separate
Our Under 16 age group is for boys & girls in school years 10 and 11.
At the beginning of the season each player will be allocated to a team which is appropriate for their level and experience in hockey. They will train for 1.5 hours on a mid-week evening with their team and play matches on Sunday.
The teams will be entered into the South East Area Junior League system and take part in the England Hockey Club Championships Cup tournament. These two competitions give at least (depending on cup success) 12 matches per year.
In addition to the 12 league & cup matches, we aim to have them play another 8-15 competitive friendly matches with clubs in the area. These matches will be selected to help them team experience playing at different levels. In the event they have a Sunday without a match, training will be provided.
For home matches we aim to allocate each team a time slot and location on Sunday matches. For away matches (and when travelling teams will struggle to make it for the time we have the pitch) the time may vary.
Players who do not have Saturday school sport or are identified by the coaches as benefiting from extra competitive hockey to aid their hockey development, will also be invited to play in the Sussex Development Junior hockey league or an adult team on Saturday.
Players in U16 age group (who do not fall into the category above) may also choose to play in adult teams for the additional membership subscription option. They will need to discuss this with adult team captains.
The hockey season is 27 weeks from the beginning of September to Easter, with breaks in the 3 school holidays in between. All training and matches outlined are included in membership.
£26 from each membership subscription is paid to the East Grinstead Sports Club charity, to maintain the site and build a fund of money to eventually replace the hockey pitch.
